The Art of Music - 2nd Attempt

These are some ideas I came up with before the crits. I got good feedback on these designs. People said they were stricking and captured the feel of the gig.

They were put together quick so I didnt really think about image choice.

I want to choose a nice stock, foldable and stiking. After the crit with Joe, we came to the conclusion that the word play with the artists is what can be stiking. Peopl said that 'Neil Kiss' is what caught they're eye, not the image. Joe said that I should make it one or the other, type or image, stop trying with both.

I went down the type path and chose to re-think the artist chosen. I still chose artists that I would love to see perform together, but I chose ones with names that would be more eye catching.

The Art of Music - 1st attempt

These are just a couple of initial ideas from the after math of my tutorial. I didn't want or choose to just use images at hand, so attempted to create my own images, that show the personalities and qualities of the bands I have chosen to play together.

These are the second attempts for the posters. I found them boring, lifeless and dull. They dont strike out at all and weren't really doing anything for me.

I decided to create a full pack instead of just posters. To produce posters, bio or quote cards, info cards about the venues. This would all fold away into a self promotional package.

These were the the ideas for the quote cards and info packs for the venues. Once again I lacked inspiration and really didn't like what I was producing, I was so unhappy with it I was going to start again with the ideas.

Headline Final Prints

These are the final products for the Headline screenprint breif devised by Oliver Dunn and Jonathen Lister.

Overall I am quite happy with the prints, the image is bold and dark and the colour is an effective, bright contrast with the black image. The type also sits well on the blue.

I am not too pleased with the line up of the piece. I know a bad works man always blames his tools, but I have never used the vacuum beds at Blenheim Walk, I have only used the beds. The vacuum beds at Vernon street line up amazingly, but the ones up at our college seem to push the paper about two or three mill out. Therefore every print is different. Some say it adds charm and that is what silkscreen is all about. I can understand this so am overall happy. But I would prefer an overall production value to be better next time. Also the deadline for the designs was dangerously close to the deadline for the prints. This was a little annoying and time wasn't taken as well as it could have been.

More pictures of the final show after the jump.

Jimmy Page Shirt

This is the final product for my Dad's shirt. He was happy with it and production wise, it was one of the best t-shirts that I have ever printed. I think when there's only one to do its less stress full, or I'm just getting the hang of it.

James Patrick Page

Just a T-shirt that is really simple, quick but effective. My Dad's favorite guitarist, printed for his birthday in edition of one.

Skinny Ships - Final

These are a sneak peak at the finals, Doubt, Arrogance, Value, Strive and Elegance.

They all need to be trimmed, signed, editioned and packaged.

Print Folder

I was flicking through some stuff in the print room and founf this way of packaging prints, I have no clue how to do stuff like this so very kindly, Caroline Pratt from the print room drew up this double sided net and instructions.

I will seal it with a paper band and silkscreen the label, old paper from the miss prints will be recycled when doing so.
